Description from the seller
Expressive, impasto landscape composition by Pino Passalenti (1915–1983), executed with a bold, thick impasto.
The work shows a village scene with houses and a church in a hilly landscape. Typical of Passalenti are the earthy tones, the simplified forms, and the dynamic, textured surface that gives the painting great depth and presence.
The painting style is clearly attributable to post-impressionist / expressive realism of the post-war period. The work is personally signed and, stylistically, clearly attributable to the artist's well-known body of work.
