Description from the seller

Danish Royal Raadvad bread slicer in perfect condition. Original chocolate-brown color and very well maintained. Retro and vintage style

Vintage Raadvad bread slicers

This Danish invention is ideal for slicing bread. Bread slicers have a sharp stainless steel blade like a razor and a wooden board on which you can place the bread. Then you determine the desired bread thickness and let the guillotine do its job. In addition to bread, the Raadvad is also perfectly suitable for cutting vegetables, meat, and cheese, for example.

Although the Raadvad is still used daily in Denmark, it is often used as a decoration in the Netherlands. The Raadvad is a cool eye-catcher for, for example, the catering industry, specialty shops, and bakers. The Raadvad design is a Danish classic.

Features

The bread slicer is made of cast iron and equipped with a sharp stainless steel blade. The handle is wooden, as is the support on which the bread rests. All Raadvads are stamped into the cast iron; some bread slicers are also stamped into the wood.

The measures are:

Height: 24 cm
Width: 35.5 cm

History

The Raadvaddam factory was founded in 1759 in the Danish town of Raadvaddam. The manufactory did not focus on luxury products, according to an 1805 factory catalog, but on goods useful to professionals. This philosophy never changed. Raadvad began to specialize in high-quality knife and bread-slicer products. This also included a name change—the factory's name changed to: Raadvad Knife Factory. The factory has existed for more than 250 years and is internationally known for its high quality. Ove Larsen designed the Raadvad bread slicer in 1939. The design is now an icon of Danish design!
