Description from the seller
dandelion
40 x 80 cm
Oil on canvas
2025
Framed in a white wooden box frame.
The power of the color red against the fragility of the dandelion puffball. That contrast appealed to me. The red glass vase adds warmth and intensity to the composition and immediately draws the eye, while the dried dandelion puffball stands for transience and silence, and thus commands attention in a different way.
I am Melinda Rutgers, a painter. I completed my training as a portrait painter at Portretschool Amsterdam. Currently, my focus is on painting still lifes. I paint realistically in oil and am inspired by everyday moments and objects that often go unnoticed. I am fascinated by different materials and textures, and in my work, I explore how light, texture, and detail can together evoke a mood; a quest to find the boundary between seeing and feeling.
Since 2024, I have been part of the 'Masters of Realism' group. A great recognition of my craftsmanship and contribution to the tradition of Dutch Realism.
