Juan de Araez (1924-2014) - Barcos pescadores

He studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes "Lonja del Mar" in Barcelona. A painter, draftsman, and illustrator, he resides and works in Alicante.
He has exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Tarragona, Castellón, Vigo, Vitoria, Paris, Nice, Cannes, Caracas, Lisbon, Porto, Mexico City, etc... His works are included in private collections in Spain and in foreign cities such as: San Francisco, New York, Caracas, Paris, Rome, Lisbon, Tokyo...

He is a painter, draftsman, and illustrator, having for years pursued oil painting, where he achieves with his palette a technical mastery over time as he has confronted nature, discovering its secrets with the most exquisite sensitivity.

Juan Araez is a colorful painter, an instinctive draughtsman and a lover of the magic of light. He is the pictorial sensibility; a born landscapist, he captures the subject with the difficult ease of those who master technique and know how to express themselves pictorially. Everything seems to begin with ease; to paint is to breathe, in his case. And this is the hard part: expressing it in painting is not within reach of everyone. He is a nimble and harmonious colorist and a great connoisseur of drawing, whose master lines dissolve in the swell of his well-coordinated cromatism. The result is a work that conveys emotion by bearing witness to reality.
