Artist Statement – Dave Gomig

Dave Gomig is a contemporary artist from Tyrol, Austria. His path to art was not planned, but shaped by coincidence and fate. Without academic training and without predefined rules, he began creating intuitively—initially without fully understanding what he was doing. This freedom from convention became one of his greatest strengths.

Through personal hardships and profound life-changing experiences, Dave Gomig was forced to let go of many things. Emotions, memories, and inner conflicts found their way into his art. What words often fail to express becomes visible on the canvas. Art turned into a space for processing, release, and honest confrontation with the inner self.

His works are raw, intuitive, and deeply emotional. They reflect inner processes—fractures, transitions, control and loss of control. Each piece represents a moment in time, a state of being, and a trace of an inner journey.

Through personal misfortunes and profound life upheavals, Dave Gomig was forced to let go of things. Feelings, memories, and inner tensions finally found expression in art. What words often cannot capture is made visible in his works. Art became his outlet, a place of processing, release, and honest engagement with his own inner self.
