AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Artist Statement – Dave Gomig

Dave Gomig is a contemporary artist from Tyrol, Austria. His path to art was not planned, but shaped by coincidence and fate. Without academic training and without predefined rules, he began creating intuitively—initially without fully understanding what he was doing. This freedom from convention became one of his greatest strengths.

Through personal hardships and profound life-changing experiences, Dave Gomig was forced to let go of many things. Emotions, memories, and inner conflicts found their way into his art. What words often fail to express becomes visible on the canvas. Art turned into a space for processing, release, and honest confrontation with the inner self.

His works are raw, intuitive, and deeply emotional. They reflect inner processes—fractures, transitions, control and loss of control. Each piece represents a moment in time, a state of being, and a trace of an inner journey.

Artwork Description – "Raster Break"

Title: Grid Break
Technique: Mixed Media (Acrylic, Modeling Paste)
Tools: Sponges, Brushes, Squeegee
Dimensions: 80 × 80 cm
Surface: Canvas

“Rasterbruch” is a powerful mixed-media artwork that explores the breaking of rigid structures and established patterns. Various materials and techniques interact to create a dynamic and layered surface. Modeling paste adds depth and texture, while acrylic paint brings emotion, movement, and contrast to the composition.

The use of sponges, brushes, and a squeegee allows both controlled and spontaneous elements to emerge. Lines, shapes, and textures appear fragmented, as if a fixed grid is dissolving. This visual rupture forms the core of the artwork’s message: letting go of old systems, breaking boundaries, and opening space for transformation.

“Rasterbruch” invites the viewer to reflect on personal limits, inner structures, and moments of disruption. The work feels both powerful and vulnerable—raw, honest, and intense.

Artist biography – Dave Gomig

Dave Gomig is a contemporary artist from Tyrol, Austria. His path to art was not planned, but fateful. Without formal training and without fixed rules, he began to create—at first without knowing exactly where this path would lead. It is precisely this open-mindedness that became his greatest strength.

Through personal misfortunes and profound life upheavals, Dave Gomig was forced to let go of things. Feelings, memories, and inner tensions finally found expression in art. What words often cannot capture is made visible in his works. Art became his outlet, a place of processing, release, and honest engagement with his own inner self.

His works emerge intuitively, raw and direct. They reflect internal processes—ruptures, new beginnings, control and loss of control. Each piece is a moment, a state, an imprint of an inner happening.

Description of the work – 'Rasterbruch'

Title: Raster Break
Technique: Mixed Media (modeling paste, acrylic)
Tools: sponges, brushes, squeegees
Dimensions: 80 × 80 cm
Support: Canvas

“Rasterbruch” is a powerful mixed-media work that thematizes breaking with existing structures. Different materials and techniques meet and collide, creating a tense surface. Putty gives the piece depth and tactility, while acrylic paints create emotion, movement, and contrast.

The use of sponges, brushes, and a squeegee creates both controlled and random structures. Lines, areas, and textures appear fragmented—as if a solid grid were breaking apart. That is exactly the message of the work: letting go of old patterns, the shattering of order, and the opening to something new.

“Rasterbruch” invites the viewer to reflect on their own boundaries, inner structures, and personal fractures. The work feels at once powerful and vulnerable – raw, honest, and intense.
