Description from the seller
Original artwork · Unique piece
Technique: Mixed media
Support: Cotton canvas
Dimensions: 124 × 104 cm
Hands is an abstract artwork dominated by black tones, in which matter concentrates intensely in the lower plane, forming a dense, organic, and highly physical surface. The composition is structured through a clear contrast between a dark, stable, and silent upper field, and a textured base charged with gesture, seemingly emerging from the depth of the canvas.
The lower area presents irregular reliefs and material accumulations that evoke pressure, contact, and trace. The surface suggests a repetitive, almost manual action, as if the matter had been worked directly with the body. There are no recognizable forms, yet a powerful presence remains, referring to touch, the memory of gesture, and the human element through abstraction.
The upper plane functions as a space of restraint and balance. Matter does not expand or overtake the composition; it remains held, generating a constant tension between control and emotional weight. The work moves between silence and the visceral, between apparent calm and contained energy.
Depending on the incidence of light, the protective finish produces subtle reflections that reveal nuances, reliefs, and variations in texture, adding depth and visual richness while preserving the artwork’s sober and restrained character.
