Description from the seller

Erhard Hürsch – Young girl at the Webstock, stamped. Black-and-white photograph, on the back handwritten caption: “Tochter der….. Mao tsai sui”. Shows a young girl engaged in traditional weaving. No further locality or date given. Photo with light signs of wear, otherwise in good condition.

Erhard Hürsch (1920–2009) was a Swiss photographer, journalist and author whose work captures the fascination with foreign cultures and remote landscapes. With sober precision and at the same time sensitive perception, he chronicled the lives of people and places on his journeys—from Latin America to Tibet. Hürsch's photographs combine documentary accuracy with poetic depth, revealing dignity, authenticity, and the small, often overlooked moments of everyday life.

His Tibetan photographs, exhibited in 2011 at Songtsen House Zürich, are particularly emblematic of his perspective: they fuse cultural intimacy with majestic landscapes and let the viewer feel the soul of the region. Over decades, Hürsch has built a bridge between cultures with images and texts and leaves behind an artistic legacy that inspires both visually and intellectually.
