Six large hand-blown crystal goblets, engraved with a noble coat of arms, dating from circa 1880–1910 in Central Europe (German/Austro-Hungarian area); height 16.4 cm, cup diameter 8.5 cm, in excellent condition for age with normal light signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Important set of six large blown crystal goblets, hand-engraved, made between the late 19th century and the early 20th century (c. 1880–1910), of Central European provenance, German/Austro-Hungarian area.
The goblets are characterized by exceptional size, with a very wide and deep bowl, a type intended for use as water, beer, or large wines, in keeping with the practices of the era at noble and official tables.
The crystal is hand-blown, with a solid, well-proportioned base and a short stem—typical features of late 19th-century production in the Bohemian and Austro-Hungarian region.
The craftsmanship highlights a high-quality artisanal production, not industrial.
Each goblet is decorated with a noble heraldic coat of arms hand-engraved, composed of:
central shield, divided into quarters,
overlying crown,
rampant heraldic figures on the sides,
Crossed swords, a distinctive emblem of military or chivalric tradition.
The engraving is deep, satin-finished, and of excellent craftsmanship, typical of heraldic works carried out on commission for noble families or official contexts in Central Europe.
Very bright crystal, of excellent thickness and quality.
