Ottoman Empire – silver beaker with foot, floral serrated edge – 19th century
Silver beaker with a foot from the Ottoman Empire, datable to the second half of the 19th century.
The conically shaped body is made of thinly hammered silver and is encircled all around with fine borders.
The upper edge features a serrated rim with floral relief decoration, a design element commonly encountered in the Ottoman world of the 19th century. The goblet rests on a mounted, profiled foot with pearl-bead decoration.
On the body there is an Ottoman punch—a tax or workshop mark—executed as a symbol punch, typical of silverwork from the Ottoman sphere of influence.
A numerical fineness indication is not present, which is common for Ottoman silver of this period.
The cup bears an original, age-related patina. Signs of wear, small irregularities, and minor indentations are present and underscore the authenticity of the object.
No visible cracks or repairs.
