The whale has been depicted swimming and designed to be hung on the wall, but it can also be placed on a flat surface. On the back, there is a hole that allows it to be hung on the wall.

The work was made in clay and fired, then patinated at room temperature, with a deliberately light patina to let the terracotta show through.
