Description from the seller
Lemons on a Patterned Table is a vibrant original work that serves as a decorative highlight of Kirsty Wain’s early 2026 series. While other works in this collection utilize bold monochromatic grounds, this piece focuses on the intricate "visual music" created by contrasting patterns and textures.
The painting is a sophisticated nod to the Fauvist movement, particularly the interior studies of Henri Matisse. Wain creates a rhythmic composition where a floral-patterned cloth, heavy with yellow blooms, drapes over a table rendered in deep violet and plum tones. The "coolness" of the table surface acts as a chromatic anchor, allowing the acidic brightness of the lemons and the teal accents of the traditional Mediterranean pitcher to stand out with extraordinary clarity.
Wain employs a flattened perspective, inviting the viewer to appreciate the work as a balanced arrangement of shapes and colors. Her brushwork is intentionally gestural and "raw," celebrating the physical properties of acrylic on paper. The interplay between the organic shapes of the citrus fruit and the structured patterns of the textile creates a sense of domestic energy and light, inspired by the artist’s life in the Costa Blanca region of Spain.

´ I love colour. I love nature. I love art. Together, they are my language. ´ K Wain 2025
Kirsty Wain, a talented contemporary British painter currently based in Spain, explores the profound connection between the soul, place, and destiny through her artwork, which has been featured in prestigious exhibitions such as the recent 'Being with Trees' in Gibraltar and 'Regeneration' at the Hansard Studio in London. Her pieces, which focus on the beauty of landscapes, can be found in private collections worldwide, as she employs color and line to capture the true essence of each location with a sense of liberation and individuality.
Kirsty Wainś landscape art endeavors to encapsulate the intrinsic nature of a location by employing a liberal approach, utilizing color and line to construct a harmonious arrangement. The influence of post-impressionism resonates throughout her creations, characterized by the application of thick, textured paint onto the canvas. Enthused by the perpetual beauty of the natural world, Kirsty Wain finds inspiration in the intricate details of trees, the undulating contours of the terrain, the vastness of the ocean, and the captivating allure of the skies. Each place holds significance for Wain, evoking vivid recollections of a fleeting instant or a poignant memory.
