Unique Hexagonal Chess Set, a large wooden hexagonal chess set from 2010–2020, in near mint condition, with a storage case and one item.
Description from the seller
Large wooden hexagonal chess set with rules of play book.
Hexagonal chess is a variation of chess played on a 91-square checkerboard.
The game combines the rules of classic chess with the function of movement, which results from the specific shape of the board.
The basic materials are linden wood and birch plywood.
The unfolded chessboard measures a regular hexagon with sides measuring 26 cm. When closed, it forms a box in which the chess pieces can be stored.
CASE
The lines separating the squares are burned using a pyrographic form. The squares on the board are coated with a water-based stain in the appropriate color.
The case is protected against damage with varnish.
The inside of the case contains a die-cut insert, in which each piece has its own dedicated space.
FIGURES
The chess pieces are carved from wood with hand-finished details (e.g., the knights' mane). The king is approximately 80 mm high.
They are backed with a layer of felt to protect the board from scratching.

Gliński's hexagonal chess set was created by Polish mathematician and science popularizer Władysław Gliński in 1953. The game is played on a hexagonal board composed of 30 light squares, 30 dark squares, and 31 intermediate squares.
The main differences are:
– 3 bishops and 9 pawns at each player's disposal.
– The king and queen can move in 12 directions (the remaining pieces move in 6 directions instead of 4).
– There is no castling in hexagonal chess.
– A chessboard consisting of 91 squares in a hexagonal shape.
