Author: Pierangelo Benetollo
Pierangelo Benetollo (Sonico, Brescia, July 23, 1964) is an Italian painter, an exponent of hyperrealism.
He first graduated from the Artistic High School of Lovere, then enrolled at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, under the guidance of, among others, Saverio Terruso and Raffaele De Grada. He graduated in 1987 with Francesco Poli, presenting a thesis on the iconographic aspects of Camunian Rock Art.
He resides and works in Sonico, in Valle Camonica. His first solo exhibition dates back to 1982.
His style is defined as 'magical hyperrealism.' He mainly depicts urban scenes, suburbs, and industrial landscapes—hidden views invaded by spontaneous nature, described with meticulous detail and intense light that amplifies reality. He predominantly uses acrylic on canvas, board, or paper.
His works, present in many private and public collections, have been exhibited in numerous galleries, including Il Melograno Art Gallery in Livorno, Galleria Gelmi in Sesto San Giovanni, and Galleria Signorini in Lendinara.
Over the years, he has received awards and recognitions in various parts of Italy.
