Imilac meteorite, a translucent pallasite with olivine, from Chile, weighing 8.7 g.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pallasites are considered by many to be the most beautiful type of meteorite. They are thought to originate at the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids, where the metallic core meets the lighter rocks. They were then shattered to space through another meteorite impact until they fell on Earth. Due to their inner beauty, some of them are used in jewelry or as aesthetic decoration when they are cut in 2 halves or sliced.

The Imilac meteorite and its crater were discovered in 1822 by europeans. It belongs to the main group of pallasite meteorites. Metal is mainly iron and 9.9% Ni, 21.1 ppm Ga, 46.0 ppm Ge, 0.071 ppm Ir. Olivines are abundant and have a characteristic golden color.

This piece is very aesthetic with very translucent olivines. One is missing, which doens't affect the stability of the piece.

A certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.

Shipping will be from Spain. Packages are usually sent the morning after the auction. Shipping is combined in all my listings - if you win multiple items, only one shipping cost is paid.
