Description from the seller
American Silver Plated Covered Casserole with Original Pyrex Insert – ca. 1925–1940
Elegant and substantial American silver-plated covered casserole dish, dating from the interwar period (circa 1925–1940). This refined serving piece combines a beautifully shaped silver-plated mount with its original heat-resistant Pyrex glass oven dish, designed to move seamlessly from oven to table.
The silver-plated holder features a classic domed lid with a turned finial, graceful side handles, and rests on decorative feet, giving the piece both presence and stability. Its softly rounded proportions and understated ornamentation reflect the transitional style between Edwardian elegance and early Art Deco design, characteristic of high-quality American tableware of the period.
The underside bears a distinctive American maker’s mark, confirming its U.S. origin. As typical for American silverplate, no silver purity marks are used. The Pyrex insert fits perfectly and is original to the piece, an important and desirable feature for collectors.
Origin: United States
Period: circa 1925–1940
Material: Silver plated metal with original Pyrex glass insert
Height (with lid): approx. 15 cm
Length (handle to handle): approx. 30 cm
Diameter of glass dish: approx. 22 cm
Total weight: approx. 1.408 kg
Very good vintage condition. The silver plating shows light surface wear consistent with age and normal use. The Pyrex glass insert is intact, without cracks or chips. Overall a well-preserved and attractive example.
A highly decorative and functional piece, ideal as a serving dish or display object, and a fine addition to any collection of American silverplate, vintage Pyrex, or early 20th-century tableware.
