Some descriptive elements:
Since 1974, no major exhibition had been devoted to David Hockney in France; the Centre Pompidou gives him pride of place with this exhibition whose main theme is space and landscape. Preceded by several studies ("Eros perspectiviste. La perspective inversée dans la peinture de David Hockney", "Signalétique pour un itinéraire. Les derniers paysages de David Hockney", "Le Désespoir des peintres", "La surface de la toile"), illustrated with black-and-white reproductions, this magnificent catalogue of an exceptional exhibition contains about a hundred high-quality color reproductions, appearing on the right-hand page, accompanied by a complete commentary on the left-hand page.
The collection also includes about forty pages of 'Chronology and Documents' that sift through year by year the significant events and influences in the artist's life and oeuvre, a long bibliographic index, a list of exhibitions, and an index of the names and works of David Hockney.
A beautiful and informative book, in which one discovers all the periods of a particularly rich body of work, which seems to draw from currents as diverse as hyperrealism, cubism, impressionism, and fauvism.
A unique, exclusive, illustrated, and magnificent Fine Arts book!
