Description from the seller
Born in Milan in 1965, he studied and graduated in medicine while simultaneously attending the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. This dual path shaped his approach to art, incorporating a scientific awareness of human fragility into his creative process. Carlo Caldara's art has an existential approach to the identity of man in the world. He maintains an eclectic attitude toward art, with cycles of various works. He has used painting and photography together and creates works, sculptures, and installations using various materials, such as polymer cement, gauze, stones, and LED lights. Among his solo exhibitions in recent years: 2013 “The Immortals,” at Palazzo del Senato, Archivio di Stato di Milano. 2016 “Living your dream,” curated by Federico Carlo Simonelli with Giulia Monti and Emanuele Beluffi, at the Triennale di Milano, on the occasion of the XXI International Triennale. 2017 “True Story,” curated by Claudio Strinati, at the Vittoriano Complex in Rome and in the Guatemala Pavilion of the 57th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale. “Lose your mind,” at Palazzo Flangini in Venice, on the occasion of the XV Architecture Biennale of Venice. In 2018, with his wife Arch. Federica Kluzer, he presented the work “Virtual Architecture – Real world” at the Guatemala Pavilion of the 16th International Architecture Exhibition – Venice Biennale. In 2019 the artist was invited to exhibit at the 58th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale, Grenada Pavilion, “Epic Memory,” curated by Daniele Radini Tedeschi, where he exhibited a large globe titled “MEMORY WAYS,” inspired by Caribbean poet Derek Walcott. In 2022: “One for eleven,” a group show with Fabbrica Eos gallery, Art Week, Turin, Spazio Musa. In 2022: “Worrying About Eternity,” curated by Matthias Ritter, a solo show, Opus In Artem, Artsy. In 2024–2025 a solo show: LICHT UND VERGÄNGLICHKEIT, with critical text by Domenico de Chirico, Benjamin Eck Projects Gallery, Munich.
