Description from the seller
Dear Bidders,
thank you for your interest in my offer.
I'm offering here a beautiful set of 4 Hutschenreuther porcelain vases and 2 candle holders in interesting star fruit form ( carambola ).
These sculptural porcelain vases were produced by Hutschenreuther, one of the most renowned Bavarian porcelain manufacturers. They belong to the company’s modernist design period from the 1960s–1970s, when Hutschenreuther introduced a series of organic, folded and pleated forms inspired by nature and contemporary sculpture. The star-shaped, softly undulating rims and sharply modelled vertical folds are typical of this era.
The vases of this type reflect the studio-style experimentation that Hutschenreuther developed alongside more traditional porcelain lines. Their minimalist white glaze emphasises the play of light on the sharply sculpted surface, making them decorative objects even without flowers.
SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS:
Founded in 1814 in Selb, Bavaria, Hutschenreuther became one of Germany’s leading porcelain manufacturers and a key representative of high-quality European porcelain. The brand is known for combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative 20th-century design. In 2000 it became part of the Rosenthal group, but pieces from the mid-century modern period remain especially sought after by collectors.
