Biography of Angelo Trezzini
Angelo Trezzini was born in Milan in 1827 and was a painter, lithographer, and illustrator of Swiss origin, belonging to the Ticino canton. He received his training at the Brera Academy in Milan, where he was stylistically influenced by the works and themes of his brother-in-law, Domenico Induno. He directed his attention to the Risorgimento events, portraying them through genre painting and focusing on the everyday life of the people. After taking part in the War of Independence in 1859, he further developed this artistic path, transforming domestic subjects linked to Risorgimento episodes into genre scenes. In addition to his activity as a painter, Trezzini also worked as a draftsman and lithographer for satirical newspapers, creating a series of works that were highly critical of the political world of the time. He taught for many years at the Milano Women's Professional School. Angelo Trezzini was highly appreciated for his work as a satirical author. He died in Milan in May 1904.
