Description from the seller
For enthusiasts of industrial heritage or antique bicycles: a stunning, original carbide lamp from the world-famous brand Joseph Lucas Ltd. of Birmingham.
This concerns the iconic model "Aceta" No. 316, produced in the early 20th century. The lamp is a wonderful example of British engineering from the Edwardian era.
Features
• Brand: Joseph Lucas Ltd (Birmingham)
• Model: Aceta No. 316 (equipped with the well-known 'Sunbeam' logo).
• Material: Brass with remnants of the original nickel plating, which gives the lamp a beautifully aged patina.
• Condition: In very nice, complete condition. The text and logos are still razor-sharp and clearly legible. Including the original glass lens and the spring-mounted hanging system (designed to absorb shocks while cycling).
• How it works: It operates based on the chemical reaction between water and calcium carbide (acetylene gas).
A unique decorative piece for a man cave, workshop, or, naturally, as the cherry on top for a restoration project of an antique bicycle (such as an old Fongers, Gazelle, or Burgers).
