Description from the seller
Jan Muijs (1925-2015) was a painter from Brabant who had a special fascination for the traditional Dutch still lifes.
In his works, light and composition are the most important motif. The compositions are made as a coherent whole, in which warm and cool colours are used alongside each other and used interchangeably. He especially paints utensils and fruits. His paintings require a very labour-intensive way of working, because of the high degree of sophistication in capturing the objects. The still lifes are made in oil paint so the lighting accentuates the details of the objects (source: http://www.artnieuws.com/#!kunstenaars/
