Albert Malet (1905-1986) - Epiais Rhus, Val d'Oise

Born in Bosc-le-Hard in Normandy, Albert Malet is an emblematic figure of the School of Rouen. A student of the Impressionist painter Robert Antoine Pinchon, he began his artistic career in 1931 and exhibited as early as 1942 at the French School Salon at the Palais de Tokyo. Deeply attached to his native region, he sensitively paints Normandy landscapes, the banks of the Seine, and the changing atmospheres of the seasons. His work is distinguished by a subtle mastery of light and a nuanced palette, inherited from the Impressionist tradition. A schoolteacher in Claville-Motteville from 1947 to 1960, he remains faithful to his roots while actively participating in the local art scene. Knight of the Palmes académiques, he is today recognized as one of the great interpreters of pictorial Normandy.
