Keith Haring (1958–1990) was an iconic American artist known for his bold, simple figures with thick black lines, of which this work is a beautiful example. Haring began with graffiti in the New York subway. Haring drew inspiration from street culture, hip hop, and graffiti. His art tackled themes such as love, energy, politics, and social equality. In 1990, he died of AIDS. His work remains influential and recognizable all over the world.
