Trevisan Carlo, Il salvataggio, oil painting on canvas mounted on a wooden frame, 36 x 36 cm, 2025, Original edition, signed by hand, in excellent condition, theme: Nature, Italy, Surrealism.
Description from the seller
The work presents an imposing tree silhouette, rendered almost as a Chinese shadow against a clear, vibrant blue. Trevisan uses simple elements to craft a complex narrative that defies the laws of physics.
The tree's crown is not merely a dark mass; it contains a perfect void in the shape of a crescent moon. This detail suggests that the tree is not just 'in front of' the sky, but that it is part of it, or that the night is an element embedded in the day.
At the base of the trunk we find the element that gives the title to the work. The white and red life buoy, usually tied to water, here surrounds a terrestrial creature. It suggests the idea of a nature that needs to be preserved or of a tree floating in an ocean of air.
Trevisan's technique remains clean, almost graphic, yet rich in emotional depth typical of Surrealism. The stark contrast between the deep black of the silhouette and the luminosity of the blue creates a hypnotic effect.
"Salvataggio" seems to be a poetic warning: the tree, symbol of life and stability, appears here uprooted and entrusted to a human safety device. It is a reflection on the fragility of our ecosystem and on the capacity of art to make visible the invisible, transforming an ecological concept into a magical image.
