Trevisan Carlo - Friends (Amici)

In this work titled "Friends", Trevisan stages an impossible yet harmonious encounter, playing with proportions and with the very nature of objects to tell a visual fable about solidarity and companionship..
The painting depicts a tiny white horse, resembling a toy or porcelain figurine, carrying a sparrow of real size on its back. This inversion of hierarchical scales is the narrative focal point of the work.
The horse, rendered with a smooth and almost marble-like surface, is barded with the utmost care: the brown saddle with red padding and the golden stirrups add a touch of formal elegance. Despite its apparently inanimate nature, the horse seems to advance with a light stride, becoming a noble steed for its small passenger.
The bird, painted with a meticulousness that makes its plumage seem to vibrate, rests one paw on the saddle with ease. Its bulk, disproportionate to the horse, makes it a gentle giant, underscoring a bond of trust and a perfect balance between two different worlds.
Unlike other Trevisan canvases populated with blue skies, here the background is a very light and uniform gray. This minimalist choice eliminates any distraction, isolating the two subjects in a timeless limbo where the only thing that matters is their relationship.
"Amici" is an inquiry into the coexistence of reality and fantasy. Trevisan suggests that friendship could erase differences of weight, species, and nature.
