Description from the seller
In this work titled "Captain Uncino", Trevisan returns to play with the world of ornithology and paradox, giving us a vision in which the fragility of nature meets a symbol of strength and adventure.
The painting depicts a great tit that, instead of perching on a branch, latches onto a large black hook hanging from above with remarkable natural ease.
The object, which immediately evokes the famous fairy-tale pirate, is painted with a glossy black finish and perfect geometry. It represents the foreign element, an anchor lowered from an invisible world, which becomes for the little bird an unexpected point of support.
The finch is depicted with its body tilted backward, in an acrobatic pose that defies gravity. There is no fear in the bird's gaze, but a calm acceptance of the unusual. It is a metaphor for life's ability to adapt and find stability even in the most precarious situations.
We find again the ever-present blue background, softly modulated, and the iconic white clouds that drift in space. This "landless" scenario transforms the meeting between the little bird and the hook into a metaphysical event, isolated from the din of the real world.
Trevisan proves once again his mastery in rendering materials: the contrast between the tactile softness of the yellow and gray plumage and the cold rigidity of the hook’s metal is the visual heart of the canvas. The precision of the details elevates a fantastical image to an almost photographic dignity, making this quirky moment of pause believable.
"Captain Uncino" teaches us that, with the right dose of balance and courage, even the most formidable obstacle can become a support on which to rest during the flight of life.
Oil painting on canvas, gallery-wrapped on a wooden frame, 30 x 30 x 4 cm; painted along the edges and ready to hang.
