Nan Laar's oil on canvas titled 'In Dichtbij Genoeg', an impressionist 95 by 95 cm portrait, signed on the front, origin Netherlands, original edition, created in 2025, sold directly by the artist, in excellent condition and delivered rolled, not ready to hang.
Description from the seller
In Close Enough, Nan Laar captures a moment in which distance ceases to exist.
Two faces almost touch, not in an explicit kiss, but in the breathing space between them. It is precisely that in-between moment that gives this work its tension and tenderness.
The figures are surrounded by loose, almost tactile flower shapes, painted with visible brushstrokes and an open structure. The background is deliberately left unfilled, so the image is not fixed to a place or time. The moment can be anywhere and for everyone.
This painting is about closeness without ownership.
About intimacy that doesn’t need to prove that it lasts, but simply is.
The warmth of skin tones contrasts with the rough color field surrounding it, giving the work a lively, breathing quality.
Laar works here intuitively and physically: layers remain visible, corrections are not erased. It is precisely because of this that the work feels honest and human, vulnerable without becoming fragile.
Dimensions: 95 x 95 cm
Medium: oil paint on canvas
Not ready to hang: no, the painting is rolled up and needs to be re-stretched by your local framer.
Attention! The paintings are freshly out of the studio and in oil paint, so the oil paint is not fully cured yet. Some caution is advised!
Signature: front side, also signed certificate
Year: 2026
Shipping: rolled up in a tube
Shipping extra-large formats rolled up is safer and more environmentally friendly than shipping finished artwork. The canvas can easily be stretched at your location by a framer.
