Contemplation, a large-format contemporary oil painting from Spain (1970–1980), measuring 113 cm high by 87 cm wide, unsigned and in acceptable condition, depicting a still life and sold with its frame by Galería as an original piece.
Description from the seller
A large-format work from the contemporary Spanish school, linked to a modern figuration with post-Cubist and symbolic influences, evident in the geometric structuring of the volumes, the formal synthesis, and the expressive treatment of color.
The figure is built through well-defined planes and a balanced composition, prioritizing introspection and the psychological character of the subject over literal description. The color palette, dominated by muted tones, ochres, earth tones, and desaturated blues, helps to create a silent and contemplative atmosphere, reinforcing the timeless nature of the scene.
The technique reveals a secure and mature execution, with controlled pictorial material that takes advantage of the qualities of paper mounted on a rigid support, allowing a fluid and nuanced brushstroke, as well as subtle tonal transitions. This type of support is common in contemporary practice for its stability and technical versatility.
The group engages with the figurative currents developed in Spain since the second half of the twentieth century, where tradition and modernity converge in a personal language, distant from strict academicism but solidly grounded from the standpoint of the visual arts.
The work is presented framed, ready for display, which enhances its presence and makes it an ideal piece for both private collections and exhibition or institutional spaces.
