Aldo Gentilini, Composizione, an original acrylic painting on canvas in abstract style, 50 by 70 cm, created in 1970–1980, hand-signed and sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Acrylic on canvas.
Master Aldo Gentilini.
In good condition.
Signed on the front at the bottom, while on the back is the authentic one made directly by the artist.
Canvas dimensions 50x70 cm.
This surreal work by Master Aldo Gentilini is part of a private collection.
It is certainly an interesting piece for how the canvas has been worked, composed of parts in relief. It is very fascinating, in an Abstract style. The artwork comes with its original frame, which is in good condition, but without the glass which could be put back if desired.
The images shown are an integral part of the description.
It will be carefully packed and shipped with express courier and tracking.
Aldo Gentilini was born in Genoa in 1911; from a young age he felt a strong religious vocation that led him to enter the cloistered monastery of Pietrasanta, where he stayed for three years, pursuing philosophical studies, before dedicating himself as a self-taught artist, which would lead him to exhibit in numerous shows in Italy and abroad.
A man of faith, he believes that only through art can one reach the divine. And this idea will underpin his entire work:
"I try to empty myself — Gentilini declared — This emptiness provokes a certain catharsis in me: I observe sensitive values that I respect, I re-evaluate them, but I never know how I will fall into the painting, and this is the realization of a truth toward the sign never thought."
He was an artist practicing asceticism, to imitate the Saint to whom he was devoted. The two natures, the human and the aesthetic, coincide perfectly.
