Paolo Contin, Scudo Nero, a mixed-media sculpture on ash wood, 2025, 55 x 50 x 6 cm, hand-signed, excellent condition, Italy, certificate of authenticity on the back.
Description from the seller
Paolo Contin
Black Shield
Mixed technique - Hand-signed - 2025
Original sculpture sold directly by the artist.
Certificate of authenticity on the back of the artwork with authentic signature - bas-reliefs/sculptures
Insured shipping (longer delivery times for non-EU shipments)
Black fragments, intertwined and overlapping triangles on three layers, create a strange effect, a wall through which one can penetrate to discover hidden effects. But it is also a defensive wall because the upper part shields the internal parts like a shield, just as we often do with our feelings.
In this work, the artist recycles wooden planks cut into triangles of various sizes, glued onto a wooden base, then painted with water/acrylic colors. The frame was also recovered from painted works.
Each triangle has been cut, assembled, and applied one by one by the artist's hands, so there may be slight imperfections, but this makes the artwork even more important because forgotten materials have become essential parts of the artistic creation. The shipping costs may seem high, but in reality, they are lower than the current pre-authorization costs, not including the packaging costs, which must be very precise and have not been calculated.
Paolo Contin has a long artistic career. He trained in the world of design and has been working in the fields of fashion and art since 1980. In 1999, he began exhibiting his works; in 2002, he held his first solo exhibition in Padua, followed by many shows in Italy and abroad, including Copenhagen, Munich, Brussels, Paris, Istanbul, Buenos Aires, and Sydney.
