暗日 (Anjitsu) - Japanese for dark days - is a large, atmospheric painting that moves between landscape and inner weather. Dense layers of carbon black and graphite grey sink into the canvas, forming a deep, almost featureless darkness at the base, over which softer grey bands drift like distant clouds or the memory of a horizon dissolving in shadow.

The surface is built through repeated, thin applications of pigment, rubbed and washed into the weave of the canvas. Faint streaks, horizontal traces and subtle shifts in tone remain visible, recording the movement of the hand and the slow accumulation of layers. These small irregularities and ghostlike marks reflect a wabi-sabi sensibility: an appreciation of imperfection, erosion and the quiet residue of time.

From a distance, 暗日 reads as a restrained, nearly monochrome field, viewed up close, it reveals a delicate vibration between matte black and graphite sheen, inviting slow, contemplative looking.
