Beschryvinge van Amsterdam by Casparus Commelin is a two‑volume illustrated Dutch topographical and historical work from 1726, bound in leather, measuring 32 × 21 cm with 1223 pages and including a frontispiece and numerous engravings.

Description of Amsterdam, being a precise treatise of its very origin from the House of the Lords of Amstel, and Amstellant, its enlargement, wealth, and manner of government, up to the year 1691. For this are drawn from various old historians by a certain arrangement, and published; and now from a multitude of old writings, authentic pieces, and with copper engravings adorned, never before printed, described, and augmented by Casparus Commelin - Amsterdam, Andries van Damme/Johannes Ratelband et al., 1726 - 2 volumes - (20) 600[=572]; (2) 601-1223 (41) pp - leather bindings
Good. Chipping and denting on the bindings. A bite out of the cover leaf in both parts. Inside pages discolored, here and there a spot. A 1 cm tear, in the margin of three leaves.
Part 1: a small tear at the bottom of the spine, some loss of leather at the head of the spine. Inner hinge slightly open - the book block fixed in the binding. Sections 153–156 and 249–252 loose and the edges somewhat frayed.
2: a hole in the leather at the top of the back cover. a small gouge at the lower corner; engraving on page 930, the last gathering is coming loose at the bottom. Inner hinge at the back slightly open - the book block fixed in the binding. Moisture spot in the (upper) margin of several pages.
Contains a frontispiece, 31 of the 53 engravings (full-page and double-page) and 79 engravings in the text (plus a few more illustrations) – all illustrated.
