Description from the seller
William
Oil and acrylic on canvas
100 cm x 140 cm (39 inches x 55 inches)
William is a contemporary portrait built like a held breath: heated, intimate, and deliberately unresolved.
Painted in oil and acrylic on canvas at 100 x 140 cm, William rises out of a dense ochre field that feels like temperature rather than background: dusk, firelight, a room with the air turned heavy. The body is rendered with controlled simplification: deep tonal planes, softened transitions, and selective linework that anchors the anatomy without over-explaining it. The surface holds that balance between graphic clarity and painterly weight, where the image reads cleanly from across the room and grows more physical the closer you stand.
William meets the viewer with wide, lucid eyes: present, unflinching, almost calm. And then the mouth becomes the rupture: a vivid pink tongue pushed forward into the viewer’s space. It’s a single gesture that changes everything. Not explicit, not illustrative, just direct. Appetite and vulnerability, invitation and provocation, all compressed into one saturated mark.
What keeps William mysterious is the absence of explanation. No setting, no story, no escape route, only William, the heat around him, and the tension of being looked at while looking back. The painting asks you to stay with that discomfort and that desire, without resolving it into something safe.
This original painting by VITYRA is hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube, an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm (39 x 55 inches), with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching.
