Souze, the back board with a black geometric design, light signs of wear, very beautiful gilt edges, very nice smooth spine with a slightly dull 'hair' in four decorative false compartments, two of which bear the author, title and publisher in gilt letters.
Good interior condition, foxing on certain pages otherwise no stains, pencil marks, tears or missing parts. The work is enhanced with 87 black-and-white wood engravings in-text and as plates, as well as 2 folded maps in black and white, not in text, of Lower and Upper Egypt.
