A combination of deep metaphysics with a very expressive, almost sculptural texture.
"Faith" for me is not a religious topic, but primarily existential – it is the courage to cross the chasm along a path that is built under our feet. We choose the road ourselves... toward the golden mountains or dark... At any moment we can change the road, but then it is much harder. The dark road is wide and safe... The road to the golden mountains is uneven and without safeguards.
In this image I aimed for a strong contrast between the lightness of the background and the heaviness and brilliance of matter.
The right side of the image is an explosion of texture. I used thick layers of paint (impasto) to give scale and to the hovering gradations an almost three-dimensional character. The use of gold and copper makes the light literally "works" on the canvas, changing its appearance depending on the time of day.
The background is a dynamic, ethereal sky, painted in a laser-like style. Interwoven blues and whites create depth, making the ragged steps appear truly suspended in a vacuum.
The lower-left corner is a dark structure of the road—our starting point, which contrasts with an uncertain, but brightly lit path.
The image depicts a sequence of levitating steps, leading from a dark shore toward a golden, majestic rock suspended in the sky. It is a metaphor for trusting one's own intuition and following the goal, even when the road seems to come to an end.
I wanted to create an image that would remind people that what seems unattainable is only a matter of taking the first step.
This is a work that cannot be mistaken for a print. The pronounced texture of the paint lends it a unique, luxurious character.
"Faith" is a painting with an incredibly positive, motivating charge. It fits perfectly into interiors where we seek inspiration and calm — a living room or a modern study.
