Pair of antique gilded frames with a decoration of grapevines and leaves – Louis XV / Napoleon III style – Late 19th / early 20th century – External dimensions 64 × 50 cm
Detailed description:
A superb pair of matching antique wooden frames, with moulded wood, richly carved and gilded with gold leaf (old gilding with a beautiful patina from time).
These frames feature a very elegant and distinctive vegetal decoration: a continuous frieze of grape leaves, grape clusters, and interlaced floral scrolls, in a neoclassical/Rococo style inspired by Louis XV, revisited in the Napoleonic III era (the second half of the 19th century or the very early 20th century, around 1880–1910).
Dimensions :
External (overall): 64 × 50 cm each
Internals (sight / flush / rebate) : 59 × 45 cm each
→ Ideal for a painting, an etching, a photo, or a mirror of these dimensions.
Condition: Good overall for pieces about 100-140 years old. Old gilding with natural wear, patina, small flakes, and signs of time usage (see photos carefully). No major missing parts or significant breakage. Sold without glass, without back, and without artwork (bare frames, ready to be restored or used as-is for an authentic shabby-chic or vintage look).
Perfect for:
framing of paintings or engravings
wall mirror
Haussmannian-style interior decoration, chic brocante, or an antique collection.
Rare pair, perfectly matched — a beautiful decoration project or for an antique dealer / framer.
Integrated mounting system.
Careful delivery recommended.
