Qur'an leaf, Arabic original text with interlinear Persian translation, dating to around 1830, originating in North India (likely Kashmir), a single-page manuscript leaf measuring 26.5 by 15 cm in very good condition, on the subject of Religion.
Description from the seller
A large form manuscript leaf from a Qur'an originating in North India (likely Kashmir) scribed in black nashki with interlinear Persian translation containing the first 16 verses of Chapter 38, Sad (Sad), which focus on the stubborn arrogance of the Meccan disbelievers, their rejection of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and the warnings of destruction faced by previous generations who behaved similarly. It establishes the authority of the Quran and advises patience in the face of mockery. These serve as a reminder and a means for mankind to recognize the truth that disbelief is often driven by haughtiness and stubbornness, not lack of evidence, and that the destruction of previous nations serves as a warning that arrogance against God leads to downfall, as arrogance will ultimately fail.
The leaf consists of 17 lines of scripture in black nashki, together with ta simple chapter heading which is book-ended by decorative arabesque illustrations. There are simple form aya verse roundels within the script, and the whole is surrounded by a full margin in multiple coloured rulings. Persian interlinear translations would have assisted those who did not read purist Arabic.
The condition is very good.
