The vases are decorated with portraits of children in historical clothing (perhaps in the style of famous paintings by Thomas Gainsborough). The technique appears to be a combination of hand-painted details and transfers on a milk-glass or porcelain base with a gradient color.

The vases are made of lightweight glass or porcelain. By filling the base with gypsum, the center of gravity is lowered, making the vase stand more securely and less prone to tipping over.
