Original expressionist painting from 1987 by the Eindhoven-based artist Ad Snijders (Eindhoven 1929–2010).
Original artwork, signed A.S. '87, including a frame with mat.
Ad Snijders was a Dutch painter, draftsman, collagist and sculptor. He joined Kunstkring de Kempen as one of its youngest members in 1947. Noted by the French government, he received a grant from them and studied in 1961 and 1962 at the prestigious Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris.
In 1949 he held his first exhibition, with press attention. Ad Snijders was a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK). His work can be found in the collections of museums and private collectors. His work has been shown in leading museums such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Fodor Museum, and the Jan Cunen Museum in Oss.
In 1959 he exhibited, among others, at Galerie Taurus in Nijmegen together with artists Armando and Kees van Bohemen. A year later his work was selected for Premio Marzotto in the Italian town of Valdagno. There he exhibited alongside, among others, Corneille and Lucebert.
In 1984 he opened his own gallery named Thornfield, where he held an exhibition six times a year. Adjacent to his studio, he offered young artists a place to display their art.
