Description from the seller

Elegant hand-crafted ceramic humidor vase from Deruta, one of Italy’s most renowned historic centers for maiolica production. This decorative object is a fine example of traditional Umbrian ceramic artistry, entirely hand-painted with rich polychrome enamels.

The surface is adorned with a symmetrical marine-inspired motif, featuring two stylized seahorses surrounded by scrolling foliage, floral elements, and ornamental details. The vibrant palette—dominated by warm yellows, cobalt blue, turquoise, and terracotta tones—is characteristic of classic Deruta decoration and gives the piece strong visual presence.

The sculptural, fan-shaped form and scalloped upper edge enhance its decorative appeal, while the hollow interior and rear ventilation holes identify it as a humidor vase, traditionally intended for storing cigars or aromatic items. The reverse is marked “Italy 664 – Deruta”, confirming origin and production.

Details:
• Origin: Deruta, Umbria, Italy
• Material: Hand-painted glazed ceramic (maiolica)
• Period: Late 20th century
• Decoration: Marine motif with seahorses and floral scrollwork
• Markings: Handwritten mark on base
• Condition: Pristine

A charming and collectible Italian ceramic piece, ideal for collectors of Deruta pottery, Mediterranean decorative arts, or refined interior accents.
