Doris Malfeito successively studied under Professor Sainz de la Maza at the Gallego Marquina School and at the Reial Cercle Artístic. In 1957, the Cercle Maillol of the French Institute in Barcelona awarded her a scholarship to go to Paris. In 1983, she won the Ferran Agulló prize at the Vila de Palamós competition, followed by an honorary diploma from the European Academy of Paris. In 1991, Joan Antoni Samaranch commissioned her to paint the Olympic Games for the Lausanne museum.
