Description from the seller
UV checked !
Enamelled Canton porcelain teapot with lid.
China, late 19th century
Famille rose
Height: 16 cm
Width: 18 cm
Depth: 13 cm
Cylindrical, slightly bulging in shape, this teapot features a continuous decoration painted in the so-called famille rose (fencai) palette. The body is organized into cartouches alternating scenes of court life, lively with figures indoors, birds perched among peonies and fruit, and circular medallions framed by scrolling foliage and butterflies on a gilt ground.
The chromatic richness of emerald greens, deep pinks, yellows and blues accentuated with gold sits within the decorative tradition of the production known as "Rose Canton", intended for the Western export market. The movable handle is replaced by a braided cord fixed to gilded fittings, a feature characteristic of service teapots or hot-water pots.
Condition :
Slight wear to the gilding and the edges, tiny scuffs. No crack or restoration observed. Examined under UV. Good condition.
Provenance: Portuguese Collection - Kanaka The Collection
Shipping: Shipped with UPS / CTT with insurance and tracking
