Description from the seller

A very old and rare Romanian Orthodox icon depicting Saint Constantine the Great and his mother Saint Helena.
The text on the icon is in Romanian (Sf. Împărați Constantin și Elena) and means "Holy Emperor Constantine and Helena".

Hand-painted on wood, very masterfully.
The icon has already been cleaned.

Dimensions: 29 x 23 cm

Style: The icon is crafted in the traditional Byzantine style, typical of Orthodox church art.
Constantine was the first Christian emperor to legalize Christianity in the Roman Empire. Helena is known for her pilgrimage to Jerusalem, during which she discovered the True Cross of Christ.
In icons they are often depicted together, holding the cross or pointing to it, as a symbol of their contribution to the Christian faith.

The motif of Saint Constantine and Saint Helena is very popular in the Orthodox Church. They are highly revered saints, often described as equal to the Apostles.

From my private collection, a special piece for collectors.

The old icon is in good condition with signs of aging.
