Villeroy & Boch
Burgenland Blue - Copperplate Engraving Decoration
Made in Germany
With porcelain from the Villeroy & Boch Burgenland series, a piece of German porcelain history enters your home. Burgenland tableware was produced between 1930 and 2002, until production was finally discontinued in July 2002. Characteristic of the noble porcelain series are the wonderful ornaments and landscape depictions that adorn it. Villeroy & Boch Burgenland ranks among the more traditional lines of the renowned porcelain manufacturer and primarily appeals to collectors who appreciate classic designs in the tradition of the 18th and 19th centuries. The copper-engraving-based process, developed by Villeroy & Boch themselves, is known as Mettlacher Kupferdruck Unterglasur.

History of the company Villeroy & Boch:
Villeroy & Boch AG, abbreviated V&B (also “VB”), is a German manufacturer of ceramics, with origins dating back to 1748. The company is named after its two founders François Boch and Nicolas Villeroy and, after more than 275 years, remains largely owned by the Boch-Galhau families (major shareholders) and Villeroy de Galhau. The headquarters of Villeroy & Boch are located in the Alte Abtei in Mettlach, Saarland, a monastic building that was abandoned during the French Revolution. In addition, there are 13 production sites in Europe and Asia. The products are distributed in around 125 countries.
