Description from the seller

Beautiful and characterful Cologne inlay pot from the first half of the 19th century, made in traditional stoneware with the characteristic salt glaze. This pot is a fine example of artisanal Rhineland pottery and exudes history, use, and authenticity.

The pot is cylindrical in shape and equipped with two sturdy handles. The decoration consists of hand-applied cobalt blue brushstrokes and numerals, characteristic of Cologne production from this period. The salt glaze has a beautiful, lively surface with natural speckling, giving it a warm, well-worn look.

Condition is in keeping with its age: there are small chips on the underside, as clearly visible in the photos. This does not detract from its decorative value and instead emphasizes the authentic character of a utilitarian object that is over 170 years old.

A special collector's item for lovers of antique pottery, folk art, or Cologne stoneware, but also very decorative in a rural or traditional interior.
