“5 Plays and One One-Act Play” is the Czech edition of a collection of dramatic works by French philosopher and playwright Jean-Paul Sartre, published in Prague in 1962 by Státní nakladatelství krásné literatury a umění.
The book gathers five full-length plays and one one-act play, showcasing Sartre’s dramatic output from the 1940s and 1950s. Among the included works are No Exit, The Respectful Prostitute, The Devil and the Good Lord, Kean, The Condemned of Altona, and The Holes in the Sky (Někrasov).
Václav Černý (1895–1987) was a prominent Czech literary historian, critic, and theorist.
