Immersion explores the threshold between presence and dissolution. The face emerges from the water in a state of suspension, where time seems to slow and breathing becomes consciousness. The figure does not struggle against the environment that surrounds it; instead, it accepts it, allowing the water to become an extension of the body and the mind.
Direct gaze establishes an intimate relationship with the observer, summoning them into that same space of silence and pressure. The water, simultaneously protective and oppressive, functions as a metaphor for deep emotional states — vulnerability, introspection, contained resistance.
In this work, immersion is not loss, but transformation. It is a moment of retreat, where identity remains intact despite the force that envelops it, suggesting that, even submerged, we remain conscious, present, and whole.
