The piece incorporates the “french cleat” system for hanging on the wall.
She presents a female face built from thousands of individual cobblestones, each painted a solid color. From a short distance, the work reveals itself as a fragmented, almost abstract field, where the repetition of the module cancels out the immediate reading of the figure. It is only when the observer steps back that the image emerges—not as a photographic reproduction, but as a presence.
The sculpture operates in the tension between proximity and distance, between the industrial gesture and human perception. Each element is autonomous, but it is in its collective arrangement that the face manifests itself, exploring how the gaze constructs meaning from the sum of fragments. The skin ceases to be a continuous surface and becomes topography: a cartography of light, shadow, and color.
She is not representing a specific identity. She is rather an archetypal figure, suspended between the individual and the universal, between the physical and the digital. The work questions the limits of the contemporary image, proposing a slow reading, dependent on the body of the observer and its position in space.
More than a portrait, She is an experience of perception — an image that only exists fully when the whole surpasses the parts.
