Description from the seller
This large-format abstract painting captivates with its intense, gestural brushwork and a powerful color dramaturgy. Dominant are expressive brushstrokes in deep red, black, and brown tones, sweeping dynamically across the entire surface. Sporadic yellow and lighter color accents seem to break through from underlying layers of paint, giving the work additional depth.
The partly impasto application of color, visible drips, overlaps, and exposed areas attest to a spontaneous, physical painting process. Vertical and diagonal movements of the brushstrokes create a strong sense of energy, movement, and emotional intensity. The dark background enhances the luminosity of the red areas and gives the work a dramatic, almost archaic effect.
The work stylistically resembles Abstract Expressionism and speaks less to the intellect than to immediate perception and emotional feeling. A work that captivates with its raw power, depth, and dynamism.
