Description from the seller
Claudio Rolfi, born in Genoa in 1960 but of Piedmontese roots. From his early works, the great fascination that Italian art of the 20th century has exerted on him is evident, with major masters such as Casorati, Morandi, Carrà, and de Chirico. Over his forty-year artistic career, he has held more than seventy solo exhibitions and countless artistic events, including TV broadcasts entirely dedicated to him. Rolfi's artistic work has been discussed by the most important newspapers, television, and radio broadcasters. Among the most notable events are the large exhibition 'Centoeventigiorni' held at Santa Maria degli Angeli in Rome in 2002, inaugurated in the presence of Mrs. Franca Ciampi and Walter Veltroni; the exhibition at the Dopmiziano Museum in Rome; the solo show at Mondadori in Milan; the exhibition at the Palazzo della Cultura in Reggio Calabria; and the BAM Baveno Arte Maggiore presented by Vittorio Sgarbi.
The Maestro's paintings have been used as set designs for the GEO broadcast on Rai 3 for about 6 years.
His works are present in many important Italian collections, in the United States, Japan, Canada, and throughout the rest of Europe.
The work is a seascape with its iconic sails, one of the most frequent subjects in Maestro Rolfi's paintings, in which he evokes memories of beautiful summer days by the sea. An example of how this subject is among his favorites is the large mural, measuring 92 square meters, created in Sardinia in Badesi in 2024. This piece is referred to as 'the giant of Badesi'.
The artwork up for auction is an oil painting on a canvas-mounted panel measuring 20 × 29 cm, and it is provided with a signed, stamped Certificate of Authenticity and shipped with FedEx.
